Lakeway

Lakeway was once a vacation community but has since become a bedroom community in Austin. We love chatting with longtime locals and hearing about when it only had a gas station and no restaurants – now it’s hopping and has a tremendous HEB, Randalls and smaller more niche grocers like Spice Box which is newer to the area.

Lakeway lives up to its name and is known for its access to Austin’s two main bodies of water: Lake Travis and Lake Austin. A great place to experience that is at the lakeway city park. It really has everything, swimming areas, a boat launch for paddle boards, kayaks and other non motorized boats, running and walking trails, two kids parks and an off leash area for your best bud!

Dining in Lakeway is easy it’s hard to pick but I’d say a few local favorites are the newly launched Zest restaurant with phenomenal Indian food or a nice meal at the Grove with a prosecco flight is always a treat and in the evening you can check out the Gramercy for bespoke drinks and a trendy lounge feel as the evening grows long.

The year over year appreciation stats in Lakeway haven’t been quite as staggering as the Austin metro, however the median home price is in the $930k range for March of 2022 and even the median price for townhomes are landing in the upper 800s.

The school district is highly regarded and presently offers 10 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 1 very large high school and counting.

A hop skip and a jump away is Bee Cave, another amazing community and in it a hub of urban activity at the Hill Country Galleria. A pedestrian friendly outdoor mall with a Sunday farmer’s market, a Whole Foods and a plethora of local and boutique shops along with more mainstream names you’d recognize like a Dick’s sporting goods and H&M. With so much to do, see, explore and enjoy in and around Lakeway; many residents cannot imagine living anywhere else!
