Barton Hills

Hi. Morgan Smith here with the Austin Street Beat. This week we will explore the Barton Hills neighborhood of Austin.

Commonly described as the area between Barton Springs, South Lamar, Ben White and Mopac, the Barton Hills area is primarily residential with its oldest homes dating back to the 1940’s.

Part of the famous 78704 zip code, it is one of the most enticing neighborhoods in Austin.

Residents enjoy their proximity to many local shows such as the Austin City Limits Music Festival, Fun Fun Fun Fest and shows at the Long Center or Zach Scott.

The area offers fine dining options like Uchi, Olivia and Paggi House as well as more relaxed hangouts such as Uncle Billy’s Barbecue, Baby A’s, Opa, Black Sheep Lodge and Red’s Porch, where just a skip away the quirky shops of South Austin thrive.

Nearby outdoor venues including Barton Springs Pool, Zilker Park, Umlauf Sculpture Gardens, Zilker Botanical Garden and, of course, the beautiful shores of Lady Bird Lake.

Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy the beauty of the Barton Greenbelt that many of the area homes overlook. Creative architecture, rich landscaping, and beautiful tree dotted hills keep this neighborhood from being anything but cookie-cutter. Prices range from $300,000 to over one million dollars.

Great Food, Great Shopping, Minutes away from downtown and only a short bike ride to Zilker Park, it is easy to see why Barton Hills is a great great place to call home.
