Allandale
Hi. Morgan Smith here with the Austin Street Beat. Today we’re headed to an incredibly popular Austin neighborhood: Allandale.
Located in north central Austin, Allandale is highly desirable for several reasons. It has the feel of a small, community neighborhood with lovely homes and trees. Only a few minutes away from downtown, Allandale has its own attractions with a lively restaurant district and shopping on nearby Burnet Road.
The neighborhood is bounded by Burnet Road to the east, Mopac Expressway to the west, Hancock Drive to the south and West Anderson Lane to the north. The homes here are mostly ranch-style, built in the 1950’s and 60’s. This area is extremely popular, and homes sell fast.
Locals enjoy several beautiful parks and walkable neighborhood schools – Gullet Elementary, Lamar Middle School and McCallum High School. The Burnet Road restaurant strip is a destination for all Austinites, and the neighborhood is welcoming an exciting new addition this spring – Yard Bar, a large, gated, dog park where folks can hang out with their friends and their dogs and enjoy casual picnic-style food and refreshments.
The median age in Allandale is 38, about 7 years older than the median age for the city of Austin, making Allandale a great place for folks at many stages of life. Great lifestyle, pretty streets and easy access to the city make Allandale highly desirable for home buyers.
Thank you for joining me today. Please call me if you have questions about Allandale or any other Austin Community.
